Choosing a tech tool just for its “cool” factor with students is not a best practice. Here are some considerations:
1. What does it do?
2.Who will use it, you or students---maybe both?
3.How will it be used?
4.How often will it be used?
5.What else are you doing, either with technology or without it, that will accomplish the same objectives? Will the tool enhance substantially enhance instruction?
6.Do you have the technological resources?
7.How much time will be needed to teach students safe, effective use of the tool?
